Ketchikan Electric Bike and Rain Forest Hike Ecotour

Overview
As the original electric bicycle tour in Southeast Alaska, we're excited for you to join us on an easy, enjoyable ride on the "road to nowhere". This road dead ends at the edge of the dense Tongass National Forest, an extensive wilderness where you will then take an enjoyable, guided, educational hike along a well maintained trail beside an active salmon spawning stream. The hiking features a beautiful waterfall along the path as well as stunning beach views with potential to spot intertidal creatures, black bears and marine mammals along the coast. The dense rainforest is the highlight of the loop trail through the Tongass and is always changing throughout the season. After enjoying your guided hike you'll return to your e-bikes to cycle back to our marina for smoked salmon snacks along with vegan options and beverages. All our tours provide round trip transportation from both the Downtown Cruise docks & the New Dock at Ward Cove. Excellent rain gear is provided should you need it.

Tongass National Forest
After a dozen years of running kayak tours in Ketchikan, we're consistently surprised at the number of visitors who never set foot in the Rain Forest. Our E-Bike tour originated from a desire to get more visitors into this amazing rain forest. With almost 200 inches of rain annually, there really is no place as lush and unique as Southeast Alaska. The forest floor is bountiful with all kinds of Flora and Fauna and depending on the time of season its not unusual to see deer or or salmon swimming up stream. Port times for most folks are very limited, so we wanted to maximize your time by combining multiple activities on this tour. Plus we wanted to offer more than just a hiking tour anyway. So we made the trip to the trailhead half the adventure in itself. And how could we not stop along the shoreline of the sea along the way back? It's not unheard of to see Porpoises, Seals and Sea Lions or sometimes Humpbacks from the beach.

Electric assist bicycles are bicycles. You pedal them and shift gears like any other bike. They are very quiet in operation and are not classified as a motorized vehicle. However, when you want a little boost in your ride just twist the throttle and you'll quickly see why e-bikes are so much fun to ride. These bikes are powerful and seriously cool. We can cover more distance using e-bikes than conventional bicycles, you don't have to worry about keeping up, and they are the perfect way to get just the amount of exercise you're after. They are very accommodating with a step-through frame so you don't have to throw a leg over the bike to get on and off. We recharge our e-bikes with hydro power so they are a clean source of fun. Our tour usually max's out at 8 people, so no chance of getting lost in the crowd. Get out of town with us on your visit to Ketchikan this summer!

This company is great to work with. When I made the reservation, I messed up the date and time. I called the office and Eric immediately change the reservation to the correct date and time. The day before travel they sent an email confirming the reservation and advising a change of time due to road construction that would affect the bike ride. When we arrive at the office, all the employees greeted and welcomed us. There is a van transfer to the site for the e-bikes and hike. When we arrived at Clover Passage we met our guides Danielle and Alexis. They carefully went over the use of the Pedego e-bikes and safety before we got moving. The bikes are great and well maintained. We rode down to a beautiful park with old cedars, Western Hemlock, and the ground covered with mosses and ferns. After a trek on well maintained paths we came to a beach at low tide and walked out to see star fish, anemones and other tidal basin sea life. After our short hike/walk we returned on our bikes to Clover Passage where the crew had a wonderful snack of smoked salmon spread and local beers and sodas. A great team of people make this a great company to book with.

My family of 4 took this tour in August. Call the company to book it. They can offer better times to suit you than booking through websites. We loved this tour. They make sure you are comfortable with the bikes before you leave. The bikes were super easy, safe and fun. It was a 5 mile bike ride to the Tongas Forest. It was super easy bc you don't have to pedal! Our guide was so great. She was super sweet and friendly. I could tell she enjoyed her job and had a love of the forest. Very knowledgeable. The forest was amazing and the beach was beautiful. We had great weather. They offer rain gear if needed which is great for bad weather. We also had a treat at the end with salmon dip, hummus and beer. It's a little pricey, but I felt it was well worth it. Pretty much any Alaskan tour you go on is pricey anyway ;) They are located across the street from the cruise port in an upstairs office. I had to call to find it, which ended up being very easy to locate. I highly recommend this tour.

E-bikes were easy to use. Two couples and a wonderful guide. Hike was interesting. Filled with detail about the local area. The waterfall and greenery were awesome. Not difficult. All the employees made us feel welcome. Weā€™d do it again. Very worthwhile!
