What To Expect

Tongass National Forest

During a stop ashore, your knowledgeable guide will lead a short nature walk highlighting the flora and fauna of the rainforest, including a carnivorous plant, the Sundew, which uses it’s tentacles to ensnare small insects. After paddling back, guests re-board the motorcoach and return to the cruise ship pier.

Our guide’s (Ellie) enthusiasm made canoeing across Lake Harriet a memorable experience. The local facts along with the unbeatable salmon dip and chowder at the end were top notch. I am so impressed by the young people who are the backbone of Alaska adventures… they are hardworking and dedicated… and really made our vacation memorable

Experience Lake Harriet Hunt with a canoe tour and walk in a temperate rain forest. The scenery was stunning and Ellle, our guide, was informative and positive. While this is not a wildlife expedition, visitors learn about the unique waters of the lake and understand a bit more about the forest and fauna. A delicious aromatic snack is included between canoe trip and short walk.

A knowledgeable and engaging guide combined with snacks and scenery made this a fun time. One thought to share, if you are an experienced paddler - expect frustration. It appeared to be a surprise to many on our excursion that some effort was required to move a canoe with 16 people in it. All I can say is that I really enjoyed this as the best excursion of our Alaskan visit.
