Whales! We specialize in finding and viewing the our majestic summer guests; Humpback, Fin, and Gray Whales. The boat tour is designed around the whale watching focus. You can expect your tour to include comfortable travel within the busy Kodiak Harbor/Channel, Buskin River watershed, nearby Woody, Long, and Spruce Island, and Miller Point looking back towards Fort Abercombrie State Park. The tour may also include brief tutorials regarding Kodiak's dynamic fishing industry, WWII history, and of course, opportunities to observe a diverse range of sea life including Stellar Sea Lions, Puffin, Otter, etc...

The excursion will take you up and down Kodiak's historic ocean channel and 2 miles out to sea toward Woody and Long Island in Chiniak Bay.

Trip was exciting. Saw lots of whales. Some were breaching, on their backs flapping their fins. Steve from Kodak Scenic Tours made the trip a lot of fun. Highly recommend; will not disappoint.

My wife and I came to Kodiak to do some whale watching, and Kodiak Scenic Tours did not disappoint! We enjoyed the personal touch from Stephen on TWO tours. The first tour was on our first evening, and the water was quite calm. We saw otters, puffins and followed two humpback whales for nearly an hour at the end of the trip.
Encouraged by our experience, we booked an afternoon tour with Stephen on our last day and the experience exceeded all expectations! Stephen cautioned all of the passengers that whale breaching was rare, especially since whales do a lot of feeding in the rich waters in the area.
We were obviously taken by surprise by the first whale breach only 50 yards from the boat - wow! We were surrounded by whales for most of the trip, and experienced another 4-5 spectacular breaches during our trip. There were a number of tale flukes as well, and we stayed with the enormous mammals beyond our time limit to return to shore.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see Alaska wildlife up close and personal. We appreciated that this is a small family business, and Stephen provides the personal touch and enthusiasm in his work. When we come back, we plan to make another visit to Kodiak Scenic Tours!

Stephen was terrific—kept out comfort in mind but made sure we got to see whales! And sea otters, seals, puffins—-knew a lot about the area and was a great guide and captain
