Overview

Swimming with magical giants as they dance and float right in front of your eyes is a truly magical Kona experience!

Our night manta ray snorkel tours begin departing at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. and last about an hour.

Important note:
-Participants must be experienced swimmers and in good health in order to participate.
-Must have basic snorkeling experience.
-Weight Policy: Anyone 260 and over (not to exceed 320) is required to purchase an additional seat.

All participants must be experienced swimmers and have snorkel experience. Children must be 5 and over to board the boat. Due to the type of boat we operate (RHIB) we are unable to allow service animals on board.

50 minutes includes travel by boat time as well

We were checked in by Will. He was very informative and provided a lot of information regarding the history of the tour and what to expect when we would be out in the water. Once we were on the boat, we met our Skipper (Mike), the safety officer (Payton), and our diver (Danny). They went over boat safety, and snorkel instructions as we made our way out to the snorkel location which was at the Outrigger. I was very nervous about this experience because of having to jump into the dark ocean waters. The team did a really good job at ensuring my safety. They advised that there was always going to be someone nearby to assist and that there was no reason to be nervous. Once we arrived at the location, you get a pool noodle and jump in. The water was rough and cold. I suggest renting a wetsuit. You have to swim out to the board, hold onto the rope and place the pool noodle beneath your shins to keep your body flat. When everyone is settled the manta rays start coming in. Danny was constantly communicating with the group and advising us if the manta rays were nearby or if he was moving us around. The manta rays came right up to us and did multiple tumbles. The experience was absolutely amazing and I highly recommend this tour.

This tour was one of the highlights of our Hawaii vacation. The crew made it fun and was very informative about manta rays and the overall experience. True to their promise, we saw many rays and at least 6 of them came within inches of our faces on multiple passes. The whole crew both on the boat and in the water was professional, fun, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend My Kona Adventures!
