Emerald Bay State Park
The Ultimate Half Day Tour departs at 7:00 am, and focuses on the best of Tahoeā€™s South and West Shore areas. Our journey begins at a beautiful secluded Tahoe beach, shadowed by spectacular Mt.Tallac. Across the river is an Eagle sanctuary, and you will be able to view and photograph different species of local birds, and possibly even a bear. As the mountains and lakes beckon, our adventures continues to back country lakes and spectacular waterfalls. Above the falls, another high country lake awaits our arrival. Climbing 2,000 feet above Tahoe to a high country ridgeline, gives you amazing views. Continuing to one of the most photographed locations in North America, Emerald Bay. Tahoe Photo Tours will take you to special locations to avoid the crowds.

Sugar Pine State Park
Sugar Pine Point State Park contains one of the finest remaining natural areas on Lake Tahoe. With nearly two miles of lake frontage, the park has dense forests of pine, fir, aspen and juniper. Constructed in 1903, the property is one of the finest examples of a by-gone era of summer retreats found along the shores of Lake Tahoe. With crystal clear waters and up to 24 inch pine cones this is a must see location.

We had an exquisite time with the tour - went to multiple locations with our guide who was a wonderful font of knowledge, an affable man, and a professional photographer who was helpful with 35 mm camera tips and tricks.

I booked this tour as a gift to my wife for her birthday, and it far exceeded either of our expectations. Let's start with the owner Keith and his wife. I reserved our tour through their website and was immediately in contact with them, discussing what I hoped for and some limitations for my wife. They were super accommodating and unbelievably pleasant to speak with, which was reassuring right from the start. When Keith couldn't make it for our tour, he was very apologetic and had Jim fill in for him... assuring us that we would not be disappointed. Let me tell you... Jim is amazing! This is a professional photo journalist who teaches photography at the college. For amateurs like my wife and I, Jim helped lift our landscape/nature photography to a whole new level! He couldn't have been more helpful, pointing out techniques, camera settings, and angles. And his knowledge of Lake Tahoe and its rich history was incredible. We only booked a half-day tour, but Jim took us the entire way around the lake for nearly seven hours! Wow! Jim even had a surprise for us, taking us out to the end of a pier and giving my wife and I a lock and a Sharpie. We wrote a love note on the lock and clasped it on a lover's point at the end of the pier. Jim photographed the whole experience. What an incredibly thoughtful touch! Because it was overcast and a bit rainy during our tour with Jim, Keith took my wife and I out again the next morning for a mini tour of Fallen Leaf Lake and a couple other spots... without charging us! Keith and I hiked up to a breathtaking waterfall. He was so patient and helpful with us. Man... and the pictures he takes with bears, wolves, eagles, mountain lions, and all kinds of wildlife are spectacular. My wife and I were rapt by his stories. This is so much more than a tour of Lake Tahoe. For amateur or hobby photographers, this tour is an absolute must! What sets it apart, however, is the personal connection we now have with Keith and Jim. In our short time together, my wife and I found new friends who will always have a special place in our memories. What kind of price tag can you put on that?

Hello Tahoe Photographic Tours guest, Thank you so very much for taking the time to submit such a detailed review. I am a very lucky to have such a top notch photographer and all around great person like Jim on my team. Both of us are fascinated by the history of Lake Tahoe and I'm glad that you enjoyed the history as well as the great photographic tips we provided for you. It was my pleasure to take you and your wife out in the next day on the house. I only wish that your wife was able to leave the car so that she could have seen the spectacular spots that I you to. But you'll definitely will have them through the photographs. Thank you again for joining Tahoe Photographic Tours, and we look forward to your next visit.

My boyfriend and I cannot speak highly enough of our time with our tour guide, Jim. Jim was incredibly friendly, conversational and more importantly - took beautiful pictures and was super informative. We learned so much on our trip about the history of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas. Jim even gave us valuable advice for our trip to Yosemite that we were going on in the next few days. We were super grateful for the tips and it was obvious that Jim goes above and beyond for the clients of this tour. Although we spent a few days in the Lake Tahoe area, this tour was the jewel of our trip. It was an unbelievable way to experience the area, see things we wouldn't have otherwise seen, and learn a lot. I cannot wait to get our professional pictures back! Based on just the pictures on my phone, I know they will be great. Thank you so much for a once in a lifetime experience!
