It was a last-minute decision to take the Half-day Tour, as I found myself in South Lake Tahoe with nothing planned on Labor Day. As it turned out, there was a cancellation, and I was treated to a solo tour, and much more than I expected.
This is not some commercial tour with a canned speech and basic points of interest. Those points were briefly pointed out as we cruised by in Keith's brand-new luxury truck. We definitely were off the beaten path and on an adventure to capture the beauty of the area in photos.
Keith was very friendly and had a lot of information to offer. It so happened we both used the same brand of camera, but his tips for composition, lighting, and exposure would translate to any brand of camera, even point & shoot.
As promised, Keith took me to vistas and points of interest that are not on the tour maps. His knowledge of the area and its history were fascinating and informative.
I learned quite a bit from Keith, and the experience rekindled my passion for photography. Since it was the two of us, Keith offered to extend the tour past lunch and even offered to meet later for sunset photographs. I never thought I would have had such a personal experience from a tour I found on a popular travel booking website.
Tahoe Photographic Tours was an incredible experience and I highly recommend it to anyone with photography interest or if you just want to see the area from a local's point of view. But definitely bring a camera!
