Upon arriving, receive an in-depth explanation of one of the most mysterious creatures in the ocean. Join your professional/certified guides in the water as you snorkel with the majestic hahalua (manta rays). Snorkel equipment, instruction, wetsuits and swim noodles are provided. If guest is not a competent swimmer (as determined by the Captain and/or crew), they will be directed to immediately return to the vessel. In such instances the guest will NOT be refunded

This was a mind-blowing experience and beyond our expectations! When we booked this trip, we were just expecting small manta rays that we will see from afar. But they were huge and came so close to us! We were entertained by 3 manta rays in total and haven't had to wait long for the them to show up. The organisation of the trip was outstanding! We booked the trip online and one day before the trip, we received a text message with all relevant details (check in time, how to find the office, parking options, what to bring etc.). Check in was fast and efficient as well. The crew on the boat was very accommodating and drinks (water soda, hot chocolate and tea) were provided. Instructions were clear and there were a lot of crew members to help everyone. There was one person in the group that had apparently a leaking mask, but the crew immediately got a new mask for her. I would recommend this experience to everyone!

I really wanted to give this tour a 5 star review because of how amazing Kona Style is. The captain and crew of BOTH snorkeling tours we took were AMAZING. These guys(and gal) bent over backward showing us Hawaiian hospitality. They even got us in same day for a day snorkeling tour near the Captain Cook monument. Not to be missed by the way, as the fish were plenty. While we didn’t see them(darn) there were octopus and eel and crabs. But alas, onto why I can only give three manta ray experience 3 stars. Hawaii is eco friendly (happy) and will not lure wildlife to the boats with food. That being said, no guarantee on a mantra sighting. While the crew did everything they could, we saw 1-3 ( or possibly the same one) swimming underneath. Most people would be happy with that experience and I would have been too except the crew kept telling us that these magnificent creatures would glide inches from our bellies for experiences like no other. This set the expectation high and so viewing limited mantas from a distance was quite the let down for $258. My advice would be prepare clients for the possibility of a close encounter but don’t focus on an experience that may or may not happen. Let people be satisfied with the sighting and then blown away if the mantas get close. Let me close by saying we would DEFINITELY use Kona Style in the future. They were amazing. The mantas rays just let us down.

While the crew painted the picture for you is a rather common occurrence, we can clearly see how this can lead to a letdown for anything less. We don’t want to intentionally sandbag the expectations that we set for the experience, but there is a valuable lesson to be learned here in how our team can appropriately set expectations without beating our guests to their own experience, so to say.
