What To Expect
1
Ward Cove
Our boats are docked inside Ward Cove, which was once of the site of the largest pulp mill in the United States. Remnants of the old pulp mill can be seen on arrival to our dock, as well as from the water. You'll learn about the industries that once fueled Ketchikan as we leave our dock behind and head out into wilder waters.
2
Totem Bight State Historical Park
View the beautiful Alaska native clan house & totem poles from the water. Our guides will tell you a legend of one of the poles, and discuss Ketchikan's vibrant Alaska native cultures.
3
Ketchikan
Along the first part of our journey, you'll see many local homes dotting our shoreline, some of them even on their own island! We'll tell you about the unique lifestyle of living remote in Alaska.
4
Guard Island Lighthouse
View the historic Guard Island Lighthouse from the water, complete with panoramic views of the seascape beyond. Our captain will discuss it's unique architecture, and share with you some of its history.
5
Tongass National Forest
View the world's largest temperate rainforest from the water. We cruise along the wild shoreline of our remote islands, which are densely populated by Sitka spruce, Western Hemlock, Red & Yellow Cedar, and Red Alder. You'll have plenty of opportunities to observe the beauty of the forest from our tour vessel!

this tour had great sights and excellent narration - good value - we saw lots of bald eagles, nests, totems, and the ride on the boat was very pleasant

I’m a local and had been interested in taking this tour because their social media makes it look so fun and shows off our beautiful part of the state. WOW!! Boy, was I in for a treat! Captain Paul was super engaging and informative and even *I* learned things about our area that I didn’t know before! Deckhand David was so great and pretty much the nicest guy ever. (Also makes great hot chocolate and salmon dip, of which they even share their recipe!) We saw a ton of eagles, both in their nests and on trees, watching the water. There was even an eagle perched on top of the Guard Island lighthouse! We didn’t see any whales but did see a bunch of jumping salmon. A float plane took off near the boat, which was pretty cool. The boat was clean, comfortable, and there were more than enough pairs of binoculars for everyone. We were greeted upon arrival by Debbie, who was incredibly friendly and took pictures of us with their eagle mascot.
All in all, this is one of the best tours I’ve done in Ketchikan! If you can only do one tour, DO THIS ONE!! The combination of great boat + wildlife + nature + great people = A WINNING COMBINATION!!

Our group of 5 took this excursion on July 24th. It was an overcast day but we saw everything that was promised! The boat was clean and we'll equipped. Our captain, Kyle is from Ketchikan, so he gave us so much information and many fun stories. Marcus and Andrew made us feel at home, serving us hot drinks and snacks. Andrew also sang a great sea song. He has a great voice! It's so great to see young men of such great character working hard to give us a great experience! We would all highly recommend this tour. And yes, we saw lighthouses, totems and many bald eagles! Thank you so much!!!
