Our Secret Venice food tour, guided by John, was a perfect way to learn about Venice, California, while eating some wonderful street food. John has a great deal of knowledge about both food and Venice and he readily shared it with you in wonderfully easygoing style. The food is tasty and more than enough for lunch, but you earn it with a good walk of some 8000 plus steps. You will see everything from the famed Venice Beach boardwalk to the city's canals to its newest hot neighborhood. This is a great way to spend a day.

Tour guide was personable and knowledgeable. Neighborhood was very interesting and good for people watching. We particularly liked the Venice Canal neighborhood. Food was acceptable but not memorable. Ceviche was featured twice which we don't happen to like, but the guide tried to find an alternative each time; it seems like one time for this food would be adequate. No fresh fruit was featured - seems like the papaya sprinkled with red pepper we happened to see on the street might be an option. We were told at the beginning of the tour that it would be about 2 1/2 to 3 miles; walking was much much more than this and even though we're in relatively good shape for our age, this tour is not for most people close to 70. There wasn't enough sit-down time and not enough bathroom options either. One last observation: I particularly liked the Teddy's Red Tacos restaurant but would have preferred an actual taco to the open-face appetizer we tried.
