Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

What an incredible day. We went out with Stephen and his dog Bowser. What a great day! The weather was incredible and it was fantastic learning from a guide who is a naturalist and has a love of what is around him. We saw so many manatees!! Stephen was informative on this eco tour and taught us a lot regarding the mangrove habitat. We saw an angel fish too which was a nice surprise. No dolphins today, but we did a boat tour and saw them. We would definitely book with Stephen again. The waters were also easy to maneuver so it really appeals to most individuals.

My two teens and I did a guided tour today with the extremely knowledgeable and personable Stephen and his trusty companion, Bowzer the beagle. Truly a life changing experience to float alongside manatees in this peaceful and beautiful estuary. We learned so many interesting things about local wildlife and ecosystems. Definitely the highlight of our visit to SW Florida.

4/6/19 my novice kayaking wife and I paddled around with Stephen as our guide. The passion and excitement that Stephen speaks with describing the eco-system and the sustainability concerns to protect these breeding habitats was truly an eye opener. Don't pass up the chance to spend a few hours with him. Money is well worth it. We spotted mating manatee plus a whole lot more.
