Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

Having kayaked only twice before we opted for the guided tour. Stephen was knowledges and passionate teaching us about the natural habitat we kayaked through and about the wildlife. He told a pirate story about the area and we were able to see manatees, heron and a baby alligator. We had a few minutes after returning to the launch area and he taught my 11 year old grandson how to stand up and use a paddle board. It was a great experience!

Splurge for the full tour. Stephen excellent tour guide who helped us check off a bucket list item with incredible information. Knowledgeable, college educated, naturalist with an excellent outlook on life. So relaxing to listen to- and the added bonus of his dog Bowser made it a tranquil experience. We saw multiple Manatees, an alligator, breeching Tarpin, frolicking dolphins, Bald Eagles, Vultures, Heron, Osprey. He knew where to go and how to avoid loud tourists to show us a truly unique experience in local science. Highly recommend scheduling a tour with him!

Stephen Denmark is a delightful and knowledgeable tour guide! We saw several manatees, dolphins, fish, herons and even a baby alligator! Stephen knew where to go and what to look for and helped us check off a box on the travel bucket list. I would absolutely encourage a tour with him any time. Thank you for such a great day!
