Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

A group of myself and three girl friends booked a guided tour with Steven (and Bowser ) and highly recommend getting the guided tour. Steven pointed out so much wildlife and gave us so much information of the environment, native people, and original explorers to the area. Even with cooler temperatures he suggested we wait a day for our trip until the water had time to warm up and we were rewarded with so much wildlife! Various birds, fish, crabs, urchin (attaches to a credit card!) and getting very up close to multiple manatees. If we had just rented kayaks we would have missed so much. I hope to visit again someday with my family and this will be a stop on our trip for sure!

We enjoyed our guided tour with Stephen and Bowser. We saw a lot of manatees, up close. It was the highlight of my trip south. We also got to see and hold a star fish and lightening welk. Stephen is very knowledgeable. He shared information about the mangroves, birds and fish. We also liked that he included the history of the Indigenous (Native Americans) people of Florida, into the tour. I highly recommend the relaxed and educational guided tour with Stephen.

What a wonderful experience for my husband and I on the kayaking tour. We had Stephen as our tour guide. His knowledge of marine life was vast, and he was very friendly and helpful throughout our tour. He found things beneath the waters a Normal eye wouldn’t find and showed us creatures around the area. Would definitely recommend and will be returning! Thank you !
