Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

Stephen was amazing while showing us around on our kayak tour of lover's key state park. I had never been kayaking and he made me feel very at ease about being a newbie. He was so fun, and very knowledgeable about all the marine life. We got to hang out with at least 3 manatee for ~20 minutes (a mother and calf were about 6 inches from me, not exaggerating at all). He would even find things in the water and pick them out to let us hold them (super huge welk, starfish, jellyfish, other fun critters). We had a blast with Stephen! My friend and I didn't bring our camera/phone (worried about it getting wet) but he had his phone to take pictures with and sent them to us afterwards. His little pupper, Bowser, was on his paddleboard the whole time and was a very welcome companion to our trip. would highly recommend!

My friend and I did the estuary kayak tour with Stephen as our guide in Lovers Key State Park and had a wonderful experience. We paddled next to a mamma manatee and her baby! Stephen is very knowledable about the local species, super friendly, and brings his pup, Bowser, on the trip too. He went above and beyond throughout the tour searching for creatures to show us. He brought up a lightning welk and a star fish from the bottom for us to hold. It was a great experience to end our trip on. Thank you, Stephen!

Rented kayaks today and took a guided tour. Andrew was an absolutely amazing guide. We saw so much! Manatees, birds, and alligators were all plentiful for us to enjoy. Highly recommend going out with this excellent company and guide!
