Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

We booked a kayak tour at Lovers Key Adventures not quite sure what it was all about but it was highly recommended to us. We soon found out why. Our guide Stephen Denmark was amazing!! He was so knowledgeable and passionate about his job. I am sure we got to see things we wouldn't have had we had a different guide. He got into the water to find things on the bottom with his feet impressive!! Some of the things we saw while learning about the mangroves were egrets, herons, pelican, sea urchin, a huge Cohn like she'll, manatees just to name a few. What a great time we had:) Thanks Stephen!!!!

Most amazing eco-tour I have ever been on! Our guide and his partner, Stephen Denmark and Bowser (yes, a board-riding, eco-tour enhancing Dog), did everything possible to make our tour memorable and the highlight of our entire vacation. Stephen was very knowledgeable and even more enthusiastic about sharing his love for all things the estuary had to offer. I totally recommend this tour to everyone, regardless of age or ability! I'm confident you will be as impressed as I was with this amazing adventure.. Great job Stephen and Bowser. I'm looking forward to our next tour!

Stephen Denmark was an excellent, knowledgeable, kind and helpful guide. Our kayak tour of the Lovers Key estuary was fun, and with Stephen's knowledge of the flora and fauna, very interesting and educational as well. Stephen worked hard to provide us with a great experience.
