Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

Just did this tour a couple days ago when visiting SW Florida with my sisters. I cannot say enough good things about this tour! Not only was it a beautiful day, and we got to see manatees, dolphins, an iguana, and many birds… our guide Steve was THE BEST! His personality and jokes were wonderful, but I leaned SO much! His knowledge just blew me away. He made this trip! He was sure to collect some things from the water so we could see and more things beneath the water and learn about the importance of all aspects of these waters. I would recommend this trip with Steve to everyone! I would absolutely go back again!

Where to begin? Our guide, Steve and his trusty beagle Bowser (who stood on the SUP the entire time) guided us through the bay / estuaries easily and had so much amazing information to share about the ecosystem there. We learned so much - it was honestly beyond what was expected. We saw manatees (including a baby), a dolphin momma and her calf playing, an iguana in the mangroves, mullet fish, egrets, great blue herons, crabs, tarpon…. It was AMAZING!!! Disclaimer: animal sightings are never guaranteed obviously so we had our fingers crossed that we would get lucky and see some SW FL marine life. Bring lots of sunscreen and water for your paddle.

Second trip with Stephen, first with family this time with friends. Highly knowledgeable and friendly. Worth the guided experience!
