Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

My wife and I did the Estuary Tour with Lovers Key Adventures. What made the tour outstanding was our tour guide, Stephen Denmark. He shared so much knowledge about the ecosystem during the tour, that it wasn’t just about looking for dolphins and manatees. He collected samples of sea creatures and offered the group the opportunity to see and touch, if appropriate, before he returned them to their natural habitat. His passion for the environment was so evident and infectious. His knowledge, sense of humour and relaxed attitude truly made the trip memorable. We will be repeat customers.

We had a lovely morning with Karen as our guide tandem kayaking through the estuary. Karen is knowledgeable as a guide and connected with each of us personally. One could think of a momma kayak keeping her duckling kayaks safe in the water while getting us all excited about the wonders of the estuary! What fun we had!

Karen did an awesome job of guiding us around the estuary… we saw Manatee’s, birds, and learned about the history of the area! She was FANTASTIC! Highly recommend Karen! She’s also a great photographer… she took great pictures of us,and sent them to us! Such a great day!🌅
