As with the Upper Antelope Canyon, this natural wonder truly defies the normal person's ability to describe what you see in words. An absolute MUST SEE if you can. You could take a picture around every turn and new lighting condition. Your neck gets tired from looking up with your mouth hanging open in awe. So I review the tour. Unlike the Upper Canyon, this slot canyon is below ground level. Still guided and narrated by excellent, friendly, and informative Navajo guides. Not a cave or tunnel, but a below ground-level (sometimes very narrow) slot canyon. As a result you have to climb down (and eventually then up) some pretty steep stairs/ladders, and walk through some narrow areas, with the occasional "head-knockers" to dodge. Impossible for wheelchairs or walkers. Anyone with a walking issue would likely want to pass as well as, although the canyon is not actually that long -- they say 1335' -- there are many areas of the canyon floor where a normal foot will not fit easily, and there are slopes and stairs/ladders to navigate from time to time. If you have those issues, the Upper Canyon would be a better bet and the views/sights are comparable -- albeit somewhat different. If you can handle the initial ladder down, you will do fine with the rest of the tour. The Lower Canyon tours are somewhat crowded (take your chances with just walking up to go on a specific tour), but nowhere near as much as the Upper Canyon. You certainly do get an increased respect and awe for Mother Nature after visiting this Wonder.

We drove 3 hrs each way and it was absolutely worth it. You are guided thru by a native guide who has a lot of history of the canyon. The shapes and colors (depending on time of day) are amazing. There are stairs to climb down to get into the canyon and some narrow foot paths occasionally but it's easy for most people.
