What To Expect

Lower Antelope Canyon

Located a few miles from Upper Antelope, Lower Antelope Canyon, known as "spiral rock arches" by the Navajo, is great for those looking for a little hike and a photographer's dream. The lower canyon is in the shape of a "V" and shallower than the Upper Antelope. Lighting is better in the early hours and late morning. Please note: you must arrive no later than 1 hour prior to selected time.

the indian guide Cheslie knows the canyon very well and is very caring and resourceful. She did an excellent job in guding us to tour the canyon while teaching us how to take wonderful pics. The canyon is magnificient. One thing to complain though. The guy from the company in charge of checking in is astoundingly unfriendly towards Chinese tourists, shouting at people and turned a deaf ear to our questions three times. I think he needs some basic training and education in how to treat people decently.

Our tour was through Dixie Ellis Lower Antelope Canyon Tours. Our guide Anthony Littleman was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly and knew all the spots for good pics. Also pointed out some really cool things. If we ever come back we will request that our tour guide be Anthony. Checking in was easy and all the people involved we very nice. Great experience.

Making reservations 2 weeks in advance in August was not easy. Time spots were limited. Our tour guide, Ala was excellent. There were 10 of us in the group. My husband and I felt we almost had a private tour. Ala made sure that she answered our questions and was knowledgeable with questions relating to formation of the canyon. She was also knowledgeable with how to operate our cell phones and cameras for better photo shots inside the canyon. If I visit the canyon again, I will ask for Ala.
