Lower Loop Van Tour from West Yellowstone: Grand Prismatic and Old Faithful

Overview
This Active Van Tour is a great way to see Yellowstone National Park beginning in the fun gateway town of West Yellowstone. The early morning part of the tour explores wildlife haunts in the famous Shadow Canyon of the Madison River. This area is home to bear and elk.

Later we hike to an overlook of the famous Grand Prismatic Hot Springs. If you don't feel like walking we find a safe, scenic spot for you to wait for the group near the van.

Next we explore the Old Faithful area, including some time at the famous Old Faithful Inn.

We continue over the continental divide at Isa Lake and down to the West Thumb Geyser Basin on Yellowstone Lake for a view of some spectacular lakeside thermal pools.

Continuing our drive along Yellowstone Lake we arrive in the Hayden Valley where big herds of bison roam.

Finally, we arrive at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to view the canyon and the amazing falls (one is almost 200 feet tall!). The day concludes back at West Yellowstone.

We really enjoyed this tour. Josh was full of knowledge and information but above all he was so enthusiastic and engaging. It was a really good day and we got so much more than we could possibly have had just covering the ground ourselves. We thoroughly recommend it.

=The entire tour was memorable, but I have to say I really enjoyed the Grand Canyon and Old Faithful. I also have to give five stars to our tour guides Crist and Dallas. Great job guys.

Yellowstone is truly an amazing place, and we had a terrific time on this tour. Our guides, Michael and Austin were friendly and knowledgeable. They took us to the "must see" site locations and offered facts and folklore of the park. The lunch was satisfying and the snacks plentiful. The only delays we encountered were waiting for the buffalo blocking the path to the Grand Prismatic or the herd leading a vehicle parade through the park. The short hike to the Prismatic was a bit of a strain for lowlanders, but the guides were patient and encouraging. Impeccable timing allowed us to see the tail end of one eruption and then a second full eruption at Old Faithful. The only thing missing was a bear sighting, but it was not for lack of trying or optimism! At the end of the tour they gave us tips for our self-guided tour of the upper loop before embarking on our 25 hour drive home to Texas. Thanks again!
