Lower Loop Van Tour from West Yellowstone: Grand Prismatic and Old Faithful

Overview
This Active Van Tour is a great way to see Yellowstone National Park beginning in the fun gateway town of West Yellowstone. The early morning part of the tour explores wildlife haunts in the famous Shadow Canyon of the Madison River. This area is home to bear and elk.

Later we hike to an overlook of the famous Grand Prismatic Hot Springs. If you don't feel like walking we find a safe, scenic spot for you to wait for the group near the van.

Next we explore the Old Faithful area, including some time at the famous Old Faithful Inn.

We continue over the continental divide at Isa Lake and down to the West Thumb Geyser Basin on Yellowstone Lake for a view of some spectacular lakeside thermal pools.

Continuing our drive along Yellowstone Lake we arrive in the Hayden Valley where big herds of bison roam.

Finally, we arrive at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to view the canyon and the amazing falls (one is almost 200 feet tall!). The day concludes back at West Yellowstone.

The guides were all super friendly, kind, and accommodating. We had three guides in our van with eight guests. What I really liked was that my son and I were nervous about our ability to do steep inclines for very long, and we shouldn’t have worried, because even though they let the whole group decide whether to do the long version, or the short version of hikes, there was no pressure to go to the full distance. So this tour was very accommodating to anyone with minor mobility concerns. There was no judgment. They were so flexible. We even ended up being gone nine hours instead of eight because we waited an extra hour for Old Faithful to erupt. They gave us a great sack lunch, with lots of goodies, and constantly offered water, coffee, tea, and even cocoa. They have a genuine love of the park, and it shows. My 23 y.o. son really loved this tour.

Jackie did a great job leading our tour of the Lower Loop. We hit all the high points and she was able to provide a lot of insight. We kept a nice quick pace to get through all of it. I think it's the only way to see the park in a relaxing, informative way.
