Lower Loop Van Tour from West Yellowstone: Grand Prismatic and Old Faithful

Overview

This Active Van Tour is a great way to see Yellowstone National Park beginning in the fun gateway town of West Yellowstone. The early morning part of the tour explores wildlife haunts in the famous Shadow Canyon of the Madison River. This area is home to bear and elk. Later we hike to an overlook of the famous Grand Prismatic Hot Springs. If you don't feel like walking we find a safe, scenic spot for you to wait for the group near the van. Next we explore the Old Faithful area, including some time at the famous Old Faithful Inn. We continue over the continental divide at Isa Lake and down to the West Thumb Geyser Basin on Yellowstone Lake for a view of some spectacular lakeside thermal pools. Continuing our drive along Yellowstone Lake we arrive in the Hayden Valley where big herds of bison roam. Finally, we arrive at the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone to view the canyon and the amazing falls (one is almost 200 feet tall!). The day concludes back at West Yellowstone.

The guide was very knowledgeable about the park and parks history. He was also very nice easy to follow on the park history. Amazing scenery.

Yellowstone tour in the rain Wow! What a terrific tour. Unfortunately we had the 1st day that it had rained all season!...and it rained all day. But Alex, our tour guide/van driver made it a wonderful experience despite the weather. She picked us up at 7am at our RV campground in a clean and comfortable 12 person van. As soon as all 6 of the other passengers were aboard, we were off. Alex narrated all along the drive, describing the terrain, history, and ecology. She did a great job of picking sites and walks/hikes that fit the varying abilities and interests of her guests. We saw elk, and bison as well as all the geological spectacles of Yellowstone. We arrived at Old Faithful with plenty of time to go into the lodge for coffee or to visit the gift shop. When the guiser went off, I got some great video despite the rain and mist. But my favorite spot was "the devil's voice " - don't miss it! After 8 hours that really flew by, we were dropped off at our RV campground. We highly recommend this tour!

Without a doubt our guide Emily Joe was the high point. Her knowledge of the history, biology and zoology of Yellowstone made the tour unbelievable. From the great prismatic spring to old faithful with mud pots, lake Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone she made the trip educational and entertaining. My wife and I highly recommend this tour group.
