Children must be accompanied by an adult
Swimsuits and shorts work best. Secure shoes with a heel-strap are required (tennis shoes, water shoes, or sport sandals with a heel-strap). Bare feet and flip-flops are not allowed. Don't forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel

What To Expect

Pigeon River

We have a big facility with picnic tables and a food truck, plenty of parking. We are located by the Pigeon river and there is a campground right next to us.

Smoky Mountain Outdoors Rafting

The River Outpost is where all customers check in to go down the river. Everyone needs to show up 45 minutes before there schedule time in order to check in.

Cancellation Policy

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Went on family vacation to Gatlinburg and trip was highly recommended. My 6, 9, and 10 year olds enjoyed their trip with Rev Dean.

My 6 year old granddaughter and I took the float trip while the older ones in our group went on the more adventurous river trip. Our guide, Nathan, was super and took good care of us. It was just the three of us, but we felt we were given the full treatment even though it was just the three of us in the raft! He was very congenial and pointed out some things along the way and answered all our questions. Great guide, great service, great time!

Jackson was our guide on the lower Pigeon River and we had so much fun, we booked the upper Pigeon River when we returned from the lower. All the employees at Great Smoky Outdoors were very helpful and patient in making sure we were able to do the upper Pigeon river right away and at the last minute. Jackson not only made us laugh a lot, but he explained the aspects of rowing to the teenagers, which was very helpful when we tried the more difficult upper Pigeon River. All 8 of us in the family loved it and made white-water rafting our new favorite hobby. Thank you Jackson - you rock!!!
