This was our first time rafting as a family. My 7 and 11 year old are just under 70-lbs and we were worries the Lower route would be too calm and uneventful but it was perfect. Next time we will do the Upper and we will ask for Randy. He was a great guide, he was good with the boys and had good stories. The facility is professional and fun. When you book with them they give you directions to take I-40 cautioning dependability of GPS, we took a chance using Google Maps and the shorter route and had no issue. We arrived an hour early and they happened to have an opening and let us have it.

For a first rafting experience with 7 and 9 year olds, this was perfect. Most of the river was calm, only level 1 and 2 rapids. We hit one level 3 rapid, and the kids loved it. Our guide Corey was knowledgeable, personable and funny.

Thank you for the great comments and I'm glad you had a great time with Cory! The Lower Pigeon River is a great river for small children with just enough waves and splashing to make it an adventure. Please come back and see us on your next visit to the mountains, and feel free to request Cory! See you on the river! Susan Spivey Outpost Manager Smoky Mountain Outdoors

Our family of 5 went on the lower pigeon tour (kids ages 9-13) in May 2019. The weather was amazing, tour guide (Judo) was great, and the scenery was beautiful. Lots of fun, only complaint was that it only lasted one hour. They send you all this info telling you your time is 2:30pm-5:30pm, and we were getting out of the raft at 3:41pm and loading on the bus to go back. Seemed very short. If I had not gotten the discount, I would have been upset. Other than that, it was fine. The lower one was very tame - if we did it again, we would definitely go on the upper pigeon tour which is suppose to have up to level 4 rapids. Our tour only went up to maybe a 2 (if that).

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I'm glad you had a great time with your guide Judo. I apologize our information wasn't more clear. Our lower trips spend about an hour and a half on the river as it is a mile shorter than our upper and trips tend to start early. The time block allows people to schedule in case we have weather or other unforeseen delays. I've shared your feedback with our marketing team, and I appreciate your taking the time to share. Have a wonderful summer, and I hope we see you again on your next visit. See you on the river! Susan Spivey Outpost Manager Smoky Mountain Outdoors
