Don't waste your money on this Luau. The food is absolutely terrible. There are no authentic foods on the buffet. They skipped roasting the pig and served what seemed to be a pan of Costco pulled pork. The buffet also had Lo Mein noodles and teriyaki chicken. As a side dish, you were served white rice and steamed vegetables which were cold.

Aloha - we are certainly sorry to hear that the options didn't meet your expectations. The kalua pork is roasted in an imu or underground oven and then shredded. Mahalo for the feedback - we hope you had a nice time in the islands.

I have been to Hawaii before (Honolulu), but never to Kauai. Because I never experienced a Luau before, I signed up to this supposedly exclusive VIP dinner, a Luau and show. The driver picked up my friends and I on a nice air conditioned bus. He stopped at other hotels/resorts and picked up others as well. As we were on our way, he pointed out landmarks, and gave us a wonderful tour along the way. He discussed how we would experience a wonderful show as well as a roasting of a pig underground. I was excited to see that. When we arrived, we were waiting on a long line for admission, only to be told we would not be experiencing the roasting of the pig, we were going to a VIP dinner with a glass of complimentary champagne. What a disappointment. Our waitress was lovely but our VIP dinner was awful. The restaurant was drab. There was a courtyard in the middle of the restaurant that was bare. A fountain or beautiful greenery and/or flowers would have spruced up the space. The restaurant lacked ambiance. We wouldn't have a problem with the admission if we got what I paid for. But we didn't. The food was bland from appetizer to dessert. I would have preferred the roasted pork for less. After dinner, we were told we would be escorted to our front row seats because we were VIP. For VIP service, they had two gentlemen from the show, escort us with tiki torches, the back way through wet grass to the show. When we got there, we were not seated in the front row as we were told. We were seated in the third row. That is not what we paid for since we were told front row seating. For the price we paid, we were served bland food, escorted through wet grass and seated in the third row. The drinks were awful. They were all slushy, sugary, high caloric drinks. We enjoyed the show but would have enjoyed it more if we were in the front row as promised. Don't waste your money on VIP. If you want to see the show, sign up for the general admission Luau. We did not feel like very important people, Don't pay VIP admission for general admission service.

Guests opting for this package do receive preferred seating as close as possible to the stage. The bar serves a variety of different drinks and many guests have shared that they enjoy the four course dinner at Gaylords Restaurant in the Manor house. We hope you had a nice vacation on Kauai.
