Fisherman's Wharf
Fisherman’s Wharf, on the northern waterfront, is one of the city's busiest tourist areas. Souvenir shops and stalls selling crab and clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls appear at every turn, as do postcard views of the bay, Golden Gate and Alcatraz. There’s also a colony of sea lions to see and historic ships to tour. At Ghirardelli Square, boutiques and eateries reside in the famed former chocolate factory.

Great displays of famous wax figures and being able to take photos with them was worth the admission though unless you like to buy a photo of yourselves in front of a green screen when entering, excuse yourselves with the photographer and get on the elevator. The disappointing part was as we exited the museum into the gift shop (surprise!)that our ticket came with a wax hand coupon with a employee that wasn't helpful at all. He ask my wife and I what we wanted after taking our coupon, and me being my first time here, ask what do you have? He seemed bored and not wanting to be there and soon I was feeling the same way. As I was asking questions about my choices and the process, my wife ask if he minded my questions, her sensing his lackadaisical attitude where he told her I was a nerd, as if I wasn't in front of him. Anyway we finished the process and I noticed that the wax hand with to come with a preservation kit. I asked him about the kit and he explained what it did, but did not include it in our box as we found out later. Waste of money. Don't get the wax hand, enjoy the museum with a camera and run, don't walk through the gift shop.

Visited Madame Tussauds to view its wax figures. All were life-like. Pics taken with wax figures came out very life like and unbelievably good. We should have taken more pics.

We did a visit to the wax museum in conjunction with the Dungeon. It wasn’t very busy on the day we went and we enjoyed snapping photos with the wax celebrities. It didn’t take us long to go through. The man showing us into the elevator told us to get off on 2. After going through it, we thought 3 might have been a better starting point. There was an area with some type of virtual reality activities. When we stopped to talk to the person operating it, he said he didn’t think it was much fun and didn’t recommend it. We thought that was strange. But we weren’t very interested anyway. I wouldn’t have paid full price but as a combo ticket, it was worth a walk through. Not sure how enjoyable it would have been if crowded. We were there on a week day in late May.
