Having thoroughly enjoyed Dom's Williamsburg and Dumbo tours, I was excited for the Red Hook tour. Dom is an awesome guide and passionate about sharing the borough with visitors. I am very familiar with many Brooklyn neighborhoods but have never had the time to explore Redhook since it's not easily accessible by subway. As with his other tours, Dom provides an overview of the area. Red Hook used to be a maritime port because of it's close location to the busy Manhattan docks. Redhook feels much more like a seaside village than a neighborhood in a large city. You can see much of the past while strolling the neighborhood. The tour starts at Louis Valentino park which is perfect for a photo shoot with New York Harbor as the backdrop. All of Dom's walks include visits to local craftspeople and artisans. This tour included stops at a glass bending shop, a leather and felt workshop (individual seeing lessons provided), an artisian ice cream shop, and a chocolate maker/whiskey distillery. The pace of the tour is great and it's always great to support local small businesses.

My 23 year old daughter and I did the DUMBO tour. We both enjoyed the mix of history and art. We saw a lot that we would not have found on our own. Dom knows his stuff and made for a very pleasant afternoon. Even suggested some additional shopping and restaurants. We plan to do another a different tour with Dom next time. Thanks!
