The initial tour in the bus was great. But when we got to Magnolia we only saw one tiny sliver of the garden and mostly the guide talked about the history of the plantation in context to the civil war. We were not even offered a MAP of the place!! Literally, NEVER did the guide mention ONE plant or mention the masterplan of the garden. I really didn't need to hear about the design of the South Carolina flag for 5 minutes! There was a long discourse on the palmetto tree. THEN we got on the tram and that guide reiterated THE ENTIRE THING AGAIN!!!! The tram guide was awful. I think the tour guide who drove the bus should collaborate with the tram tour guide so their information isn't redundant or conflicting information! We skipped the house tour so we could see "THE GARDENS!" surprise! There were gardens there! take an uber, skip the tour!

We only had a day in Charleston and this tour gave us a great overall impression of the city as well as the rice plantation, Magnolia. Valerie was our enthusiastic and nutty tour guide. She was lots of fun and knowledgeable about the area. What she didn't know, she turned into a great story! Lots of fun and good value!

Our tour guide Val ensured the day was very enjoyable. Kept us entertained on the trip to Magnolia Plantation. We saw a huge variety of wildlife on the train tour, the gardens were beautiful, and learnt a lot about the history of the area and the Drayton family.
