This tour is a great hassle free way to experience the highlights of the historic and picturesque Magnolia Plantation. The bus rides were 30 minutes and had a good balance of historical info and quiet time. The walking tour of the grounds and gardens was about 40 min with key info from the guide. Later we had about 40 min to walk around and explore on our own including the fabulous gift shop (with reasonable prices). The walking tour of the house was fantastic though it was a disappointing surprise that no photos were allowed inside (since there are so many family relics inside). The 40 min tram ride was pleasant although our guide had very choppy speech which required us to pay very close attention during the ride just to understand basic info he was telling us. The grounds and gardens are absolutely gorgeous even though it was early December and not much was blooming (some cameleas) and the fall leaves were mostly fallen already. That probably means that any time of year allows for beautiful views and pictures.

The grounds are beautiful. You really could spend several days exploring, and still not have seen everything. Our tour group did some of the romantic garden, a 45 minute tram tour, and a tour of the house. All were fantastic. I only wish we’d had more time. I’d like to go back and really explore the swamp garden and the slave history/ life (which is its own tour). Definitely worth going to!
