The tour was a great six (six of us), our tour guide John Hess was fun, informative and a great guide. Despite there being a storm two days before John made sure to find us a great snorkeling spot where we had the pleasure of seeing the sea turtles. All around a great day, thank John :)

We originally booked for May 14th, but the weather was not good on the South side so they rescheduled us for the 16th. I appreciated that Maui Kayaks cares about the safety of their participants and not just the money! When we did go our tour guide, John Shappell, was amazing!!! He was so friendly and energetic and wanted to ensure the whole time that we had a great experience. He also has a nice camera and offers picture packages which we were excited about because we could fully enjoy our trip, without worrying about taking pictures. We are still waiting to see our pictures, as it’s only been 1 day, but I’m sure they’ll be great. If you decide to do the picture packages, let him know ahead of time so he makes sure to get some great pictures of you. We didn’t get to snorkel as long because it began getting choppy, but that’s not Maui Kayaks fault. The time we did get to snorkel was amazing as we saw turtles and many colorful fish. I would definitely do this again next time and highly recommend this experience to visitors!

Six of us were led by John Hess, a very informative, funny, energetic, and experienced guide from the shores of Makena to multiple points around the shoreline. We were fortunate enough to see dolphins playing, turtles swimming, multiple species of fish and one 6 foot white tip shark. John's ability to communicate to us the various do's and dont's of kayaking, and the places he knew to take us to made the trip very pleasurable, interesting, fun, and much easier than it could have otherwise been. Maui Kayaking came highly recommended and we see why. We also highly recommend this agency and John to any visitor to Maui.
