Had an awesome morning kayaking with this company! I have done several excursions in SW Florida and have never gotten to see a manatee in person. I chose these guys because they seemed like my best shot (we were successful!). Of course, nobody can control nature, but these guys maximize your chances of seeing great animals with their location. We also learned that manatees are more likely to come out here when it's colder, so something to keep in mind if you're considering booking. We saw at least one manatee, but it may have been a few manatees, tarpons, upwards of ten alligators (beware: They are in the water with you), 5 species of heron, and lots of other critters. This is also a great location because you get to see a lot of different kinds of views.
This was a tougher kayaking experience than I am used to, but our tour guide, Justin, got us through safely and efficiently. He had lots of advice for how to paddle through the narrow passages, and always kept an eye out for areas to avoid so we wouldn't get stuck. Definitely felt this in my arms by the end of the 3 hour tour, so be prepared for a workout!
I also appreciated how much this company cares about the environment and this eco-system. I of course came out here today with a goal of seeing manatees, so I do not want to book a tour that is bad for the manatees or any wildlife. Kayaking seems to be minimally disruptive, and they also donate a portion of their proceeds to Everglades conservation efforts. It was also really enlightening to learn about some of the specific environmental challenges of the Everglades.
I have attached some of the complementary photos that our guide took! Those were a nice touch!
