Manatees and Mangrove Tunnels Small Group Kayak Tour

Overview
Without question, this tour route is the most unique kayak tour in the area and offers guests with the greatest opportunity to spot bucket list wildlife while visiting the Everglades area. This tour launches from a permit only launch site within the 10,000 Islands Wildlife Refuge. This route requires proper planning and expert knowledge due to the fluctuating tides. No other company is capable or willing to take the time needed for this type of planning. Guests will start their paddle through the salt marsh, a popular feeding zone for numerous long-legged wading birds and river otters. 30 minutes in guests will notice a change in habitat, transitioning into Mangroves, indicating a change in salinity and elevation. This is where you will enter one of the best Mangrove Tunnels in the county. After numerous mangrove tunnels, creeks and ponds and hopefully tons of wildlife guests will then empty out into a manatee safe zone the Faka-union Canal. Year Round expert kayak guides included!

Wow! What an adventure! I highly recommend this activity for all ages and levels of experience. I was the only one signed up today, so I got a private tour šŸ™Œ This was my first time kayaking so I was a little nervous, my guide was very knowledgeable and gave me lots of helpful tips and words of encouragement. We saw lots of different animals against the most serenely beautiful background anyone could wish for.

Had an awesome morning kayaking with this company! I have done several excursions in SW Florida and have never gotten to see a manatee in person. I chose these guys because they seemed like my best shot (we were successful!). Of course, nobody can control nature, but these guys maximize your chances of seeing great animals with their location. We also learned that manatees are more likely to come out here when it's colder, so something to keep in mind if you're considering booking. We saw at least one manatee, but it may have been a few manatees, tarpons, upwards of ten alligators (beware: They are in the water with you), 5 species of heron, and lots of other critters. This is also a great location because you get to see a lot of different kinds of views. This was a tougher kayaking experience than I am used to, but our tour guide, Justin, got us through safely and efficiently. He had lots of advice for how to paddle through the narrow passages, and always kept an eye out for areas to avoid so we wouldn't get stuck. Definitely felt this in my arms by the end of the 3 hour tour, so be prepared for a workout! I also appreciated how much this company cares about the environment and this eco-system. I of course came out here today with a goal of seeing manatees, so I do not want to book a tour that is bad for the manatees or any wildlife. Kayaking seems to be minimally disruptive, and they also donate a portion of their proceeds to Everglades conservation efforts. It was also really enlightening to learn about some of the specific environmental challenges of the Everglades. I have attached some of the complementary photos that our guide took! Those were a nice touch!

Sounds like you guys had a great day on the water! I also couldn't have said it better. We may not be able to control what wildlife we see on any day but we do our best to put every guest in the best scenarios to see the most wildlife! Thanks again for choosing APT!

We really enjoyed kayaking through the mangroves. Justin was a great guide and very knowledgeable on the local plants and birds. We did see one manatee and a bunch of baby bull sharks. Great company, I would recommend.
