Overview

I founded and own HONEST ECO. With Kentucky bluegrass roots and a B.S. in Biology, I found a world with a blue sea too alluring to ignore. I arrived to Key West in 2005. Now I have 10+ years of experience studying Biology and being on the water in Key West. I now own a small business with my wife and 2 young kids. We are trying to make a big impact by educating and leading by example. I'm very passionate about being respectful to the wildlife and the environment

What To Expect

Sand Key Reef

Snorkel, Kayak, Sail, and eat an amazing Fresh Organic Fruit, Veggies and Hummus from a local cafe. This is a 4.5 hour trip on the water! We will begin this experience on a spacious 42' sailing catamaran. With 1,092 Square Feet of deck space, plenty of room to relax. We will depart from the dock located at the Historic Seaport. Sail out to a mangrove island that we can only reach in a shallow draft boat. You will learn about our Key West ecosystem as you Kayak through Mangrove Islands. We will explore the distinct habitats of the Key West National Wildlife Refuge and learn about our diverse animals and plants We will head to another one of our favorite spots to snorkel on the reef, coral heads or a sponge garden. We take you to the best spot with the best visibility that day. Your mate will lead you around a calm snorkeling spot and point out animals that make our ecosystem unique and answer any questions. Snacks is provided from our favorite organic cafe Date and Thyme.

Great day spent with Caltain Andrew and Steven who were kind, informative and provided us with a great experience, even me as a non-swimmer. Wet suits were perfect for snorkeling in December and the fruits, veggies & hummus were lovely snacks. Don't worry about footwear because all were collected at boarding. We had beautiful weather and a gorgeous sunset on the return trip. The stainless steel cups were a lovely souvenir. Lovely day all around.

Amazing crew! Captain Wade, Haddon, and Steven took excellent care of us, and found us beautiful, secluded areas to snorkel and kayak. All were very knowledgeable about the local biology and also gave great restaurant recommendations. The half day is an incredible deal. Our time was very well utilized. The fresh fruit and veggies on board were an awesome bonus. Also enjoyed that this was not a booze cruise. Alcohol was BYOB and accessible after the water activities. No one was rowdy on our boat, and this made it very family friendly.

My wife and I took the sunset snorkel and kayak trip with Wade and Haden. The guys were great. They made the trip fun and we learned a ton from Haden. The snacks were great and the views were amazing. On the way back Wade even taught us how to sail a bit! While kayaking in the mangroves we saw a shark and while snorkeling saw a ton a sea shells and fish/jelly-fish. The sail back to the marina during the sun set was a great cap to the tour. We took the trip on our last day of our trip and it was definitely the grand finale of a great week in Key West. Thanks to Honest Eco for a great half day trip.(The Laws, Ohio).
