Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

My family of five took the 2 hour kayak tour. We had a great time. At least half of the kayaking was actually in the mangrove tunnels. The tunnels were very cool. At times the mangroves were so close we couldn’t use our paddles. We just used our hands and pulled our way through. The water was calm and it was sunny. While you are in the mangrove tunnels it is a few degrees cooler and shaded. It was a great time for all of us. You can use a one or two person kayak. We also had people on paddle boards on our tour. They had fun too. You can bring a water or snacks with you. If you want to bring your phone or camera they suggest a waterproof bag. Go to a Walmart or Target beforehand and buy the waterproof bags there. If you have expensive glasses you may want to buy the strap for them as well. Have fun! Stick near the guide and you will learn sooo much.

It was a beautiful day and kayaking was fun. I am 70 years old and it wasn't too difficult for me. Never a worry about getting wet or tipping. I didn't take my phone, but it would have been OK. Do take sunglasses and sunscreen. The two hours went by quickly. The guide was good, but we didn't see alligators or manatees or sharks--or I would have rated this experience higher. When we finished we sat at a next door bar and watched the Vikings, had a beer, and ate Stone Crab--yum!. That was fun, too.

thanks for joining us for a tour. i'm glad you enjoyed it even though the wildlife were not out that day. while we strive to show people as much wildlife as possible, sometimes they just don't cooperate. while you didn't feel tippy, some people do so we do highly recommend a waterproof container for your phone that way in the off chance that you do go in or even if it accidentally slips out of hand, it will still be safe. if you get a chance to join us again, I hope that the wildlife will be out. Thanks for taking time out to write a review. hope to see you again someday.
