Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

Our day was changed a bit due to high winds coming in off the sea,we were sent inland. My husband and I used a tandem kayak which was very easy to steer. Traveling up the canal we saw beautiful birds and aquatic life. There’s a point in the trip where things get VERY narrow which we did not realize. We were unable to use our paddles and really just push and pull our way through. Tide was going down and the crabs were out to explore. It was fun watching them bustle around, not fun accidentally grabbing one passing through the low lying branches lol! The end of the canal is so worth the trip. Prepare! Take water, sunscreen and sun protective clothing, maybe a snack. But do NOT leave your trash behind. We would definitely do this again.

The 2-hour eco-tour was well worth its while. Our guide was very informative (with a good sense of humor) and we kayaked our way into the mangrove tunnels. The group consisted of paddlers and kayakers which was fun. Unfortunately the manatees played hide and seek but we did see some baby sharks and iguanas.
