Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

The paddleboard tour took us through mangroves and eventually through mangroves that were like a tunnel where you were pulling yourself forward by using the branches and not your paddle (which I loved) and then you came out in a lagoon. At the end of the tour we went into the canal and saw a manatee! The guide was very conscious of not making the manatee stressed by having 3 kayaks and 2 paddleboards around her which I appreciated and I'm sure the manatee did too! I gave it 4 stars because I do feel like it is a bit on the pricey side but I am still satisfied with the experience and the 2 hour tour. I would recommend this company and tour to others.

thanks for coming to visit us. one thing to keep in mind is that our cost of living is very high here in the keys and we have a long off season so that affects our pricing. also if you ever come and do one of our tours, you are welcome to stay out longer on your own as part of your fee. Hope to see you again sometime.

Chose this trip because of eco-tour My wife and I are experienced kayakers and were extremely disappointed for the following; 1) very little eco dialogue 2) trip took us into mangroves where canopy was too low to paddle - had to pull ourselves through a rather extensive creek - more work than fun to the extent that one kayak capsized I saw only 4 fish of any size Do not recommend this falsely advertised trip

I'm sorry that our ecotour didn't live up to your expectations. Our typical tour customer tends to be way less experienced and our more experienced paddlers typically rent and go on their own to some further areas which aren't possible to the less experienced. While we never guarantee that you will see any fish or manatees, that is always our goal. Our waters are usually clear however, sometimes when the wind is blowing hard for days, we get cloudy water which limits visibility.

Tis was our first time paddleboarding and our guide was great! She helped me feel more comfortable to g out on the channel. She was very knowledgeable about the ecosystems and all the living things near by. We went thru the mangrove canopies and it was sooooo peaceful. This hidden gem took us to the lagoons. The weather was perfect too. On the way back we spotted a mother manatee and a baby in one of the canals. This was amazing as they come up for air right near out paddle boards. the only regret is not taking my camera for pictures. Definitely would recommend this place.
