Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

My husband & I had a great time kayaking with our guide Sarah. She pointed out several manatees that we probably would’ve missed if she had not been with us. She also spotted a nurse shark, mangrove crabs, jellyfish, Manowar, and several different birds. Sarah was very knowledgeable & a great guide! Thanks Sarah! I am 6 months pregnant, but a pretty active person and I felt safe out on the water in a single kayak. You do get wet from paddling, but that was refreshing, just bring a change of clothes for afterwards. I would recommend bringing a waterproof case for your phone to take pictures. We just left ours in the car because we didn’t want to buy a case there, but they have a store full of anything you would need. Sarah did snap a pic of us which was super nice & sent it to us after. One of our favorite things we did in the Keys.

thanks for joining us for a tour. Sarah loves finding the various critters we have hanging around here. I'm glad that you consider us one of your favorite things in the Keys. Hope you get a chance to visit us again one day and bring your child to experience our beautiful area.

We did the Eco tour because we wanted a guide. We weren't disappointed...Sara did a fantastic job pointing out different wild life to us that we would have never seen if we were on our own. I feed it's worth the little bit extra $ to do the guided tour. Me and my wife used single kayaks. After the tour my wife was interested in trying the paddle board so Sara gave her a quick lesson on the board. We would do this tour again.

My son and myself decided to do a 2 hour kayak while we had some time to kill. Neither of us had kayaked before and are not particularly strong. We had a young man called Mike take us out into the mangroves. It was particularly rough on this day, Mike didn’t leave our side, made sure we were safe and led us through the less challenging water ways to get to where he wanted to show us. I didn’t feel my safety was comprised at any time and yet I was very worried when I first set foot in the kayak. Once in the Mangroves, it was settled and very peaceful, he let us enjoy it as we wanted and tried his best to take us to locations he knew we would find some wildlife to view. On the way back, he made a detour to pick up over 200lbs of rubbish which he paddled all the way home with him, through rough waters!! That’s dedication to his environment, it showed me that he wasn’t just doing a job, he was doing what he loved and at the same time he was preserving a beautiful part of the world for us all to enjoy. The world needs more people like Mike!
