Manhattan Architecture Yacht Cruise

Overview
Step aboard the teak decks of elegant 1920s style yachts, Manhattan or Manhattan II, and enjoy a 2.75 hour cruise while learning about NYC's architectural landmarks from the water. The "Around Manhattan" tour narration, provided by members of the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) NYC chapter, is general enough for visitors yet detailed enough for the locals.
Experience a comfortable and unique tour through the Hudson, East, and Harlem Rivers from a glassed-in observatory cabin, which has sliding windows for a fresh breeze, or wander to an open bow for more unobstructed views of the surrounding sites. On this cruise, guests will circumnavigate the island of Manhattan, passing under all 18 bridges, while taking in monuments, architecture, parks and infrastructure with narration throughout the cruise.

Important note: select departures on Friday afternoons will focus on Climate Change in and around New York City. Please call the operator directly for questions on the tour theme.

Fantastic way to see the city! We visited local friends and decided to look on city from the water. Joseph, the architectural guide, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Almost 3 hours of tidbits about the city, islands, history and people in an air conditioned comfortable classic boat. The crew and captain were professional and provided an great safe cruise. Two LARGE and clean restrooms more than handled those on the tour. Refreshments were provided and were surprisingly good. The selection of wines were more than white and red! Soft drinks and beer were available. Service was readily available and no bar lines. Prices were what you would expect in NYC, not not extravagant. I can sum it up by saying we are planning on booking one of the other tours on the same Manhattan II.

My husband and I took this tour in June. The boat trip around the island of Manhattan (in a very comfortable yacht) with the opportunity to learn about the architecture (and subsequently the history) of the various buildings we saw made for an enjoyable and educational afternoon. Climate controlled boat with the chance to venture outside (and still hear the commentary) weather permitting. Highly recommend the tour!!

The architect who offered the commentary was warm, knowledgeable and witty, not didactic. The Manhattan II was cool and comfortable. Sight lines were excellent wherever you sat, and there was plenty of room to walk around or go out on deck. There was even a buffet of snacks, hummus, olives, and stuffed grape leaves included in the fare, along with soft drinks and wine. My teenage grandchildren were engaged, although it might be more appropriate for adults.

Hello, We want to thank you for joining us and sharing your experience. Our yacht is enclosed in a glassed in observatory with windows that wrap around as well as skylights on top so that you have a wonderful view no matter where you are on the boat. We are happy to hear that your teenage grandchildren enjoyed it as well because it is geared towards an older crowd. Thank you again for sharing your experience and we hope to have out with us again soon! Warmly, Classic Harbor Line
