Andrew tailored the tour to our interest in new immigrant neighborhoods, outside of Manhattan and was very receptive to our requests and schedule. He really knows the neighborhoods of Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Astoria, and is well connected with local shopowners, restaurants and community figures. He maintained the right balance of providing information and making the tour flexible enough to take new directions on the way (in response to our interests). We enjjoyed it thoroughly and recommend it highly.

Dan was fantastic! My friends and I wanted to tour SoHo and Chelsea, and he showed us places we'd surely miss if we were on a bus. The Chinese market was especially interesting, and we loved the historical buildings and the walk through the beautiful neighborhoods. Thanks for the rice ball! This is a must-do, and I will recommend Streetwise New York to anyone I know visiting the city.

Hiring this company to show you New York City is the absolute best way to go. My husband and I hired Streetwise Tours to show us the city on our first day. Our tour guide, Dan, met us at our hotel (right on time!), and proceeded to give us a tour we'll never forget. He tailored it to our interests, and we saw and experienced things we never would have known about had we just taken a bus or driving tour. Dan was extremely knowledgeable and personable. My husband and I particularly enjoyed being able to go at our own pace, and being able to hear more detailed stories about the sites. We also appreciated having someone show us the subway system. Dan made recommendations for our evening out (The Comedy Cellar -- terrific show!), and gave us suggestions for our second day in the city. A walking tour is really the best way to learn about the city. Just be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. It rained a bit on our tour, but we just kept going. It didn't bother us a bit. Going on the tour the first day gave us a feel for the city, and this made our second day easier and more productive. We plan to return to NYC next fall with our teenage daughter. We will definitely hire Streetwise again.
