The mind boggles when I try to recall everything that I saw and learned on this tour. We traveled through time, from ye olden days to the today via the Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy, and then the exotic Queens neighborhoods of Elmhurst and Jackson Heights, learning the histories of each neighborhood and the people who have lived (or still live) in those very special places. On top of all that, we ate our way through the day, sampling tasty food from numerous countries. Where can you walk through a once-secretive underground tunnel? Which stores use pictures to identify their wares because there are too many languages in the neighborhood? Which place in NYC has the highest concentration of gay people of color? Find out these answers and so many more on this tour! HIGHLY recommended for tourists and for New Yorkers who think they've seen it all.

Best tour I've ever taken. Thought I knew my city, but didn't, until I took Ben G.'s Queens bike tour with some friends. Ben's knowledge of the city is like nothing I've ever seen, from its history, culture, poetry, philosophy, and of course, its gastronomy. And he knows all the spots, too; knowledge accumulated from what's clearly been a lifetime of eating his way through the streets of new york. Definitely the first time I've eaten Chinese, Colombian, Middle Eastern, Czech, Italian food (and more) in one afternoon. And all sublime. You absolutely must take this tour! Don't walk. Run. Or bike.

This walking tour covers the past & present in an engaging way, explaining the "who, where, what, and why" of the city's immigration patterns. Starting in the Lower East Side and snaking through Chinatown and Little Italy, I found myself at intersections I'd never been to, despite living here a decade. And the tour (and bus ride) of Queens was truly unique, highlighting neighborhoods that I'd read about but never visited. Our guide was knowledgeable, set a great tone, and clearly had a passion for the people and places along the tour. This tour gave perspective on details that I never would've noticed, like the synagogue in the middle of Chinatown or the store fronts in Elmhurst that cater to new immigrants' needs. Well done.
