I was reluctant to try snorkeling, but my son talked me into it. Snorkeling was new for both of us, let alone at night in the dark. Sam was our lead and deserves special thanks for the extra attention he gave my son. He got scared once he was in the water and had trouble with the gear fitting over his head, but Sam was very patient and encouraging. He never made him feel bad about being scared and I was so grateful to him. I did end up seeing about 6-7 manta rays that swam up from directly beneath me and skimmed right past my face - it was breath taking and so exciting. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone.

I booked a snorkel trip for the manta ray viewing on March 9, 2019, based on advice from the activity centre at the Sheraton Kona Resort, where I was staying. The boat failed to turn up that night and so I did not go on the snorkel trip. That night call visa and informed them that Eka did not deliver on their promse. I call Eka the next day, and the woman explained that the instructions given to me were incorrect and so I was unable to meet the boat. She would not give me her name, and said the owner would call me back to cancel the charge. The owner never called back, and I left the next day to return to Canada. The charge was never reversed and I have reported the transaction to Visa as a fruad. I asked Sheraton to help, but they claim that Eka is independent, and has nothing to do with them, despite the activity centre being in the Sheraton, and them recommending EKA. Avoid EKA as they are irresposible and incompetent.

Our crew were excellent especially the ones guiding the surfboards. The canoe was one of a kind and there were only five of us that night. I am not a strong swimmer and there were moments when one of the guides had to help me out. The guides were very helpful and accommodating. The current could be strong at times and they made sure that we were all safe and at the same time enjoying ourselves. It was an experience that I will remember.
