The trip was excellent but the private tour was anything but private. It was a bus full of people on a 3 hour tour of the island.

Thank you for the EXCELLENT 4 Star review. The tour was private in the sense that it was made up of New England Trip guests only. It was not a public tour. Everyone that was on that tour was picked up from Boston that morning in a New England Trips vehicle. Sorry for the misunderstanding. ( Sincerely, Stephen M. We took this trip as it was highly recommended. We are glad we did. It is hard to see everything in one day but it was well worth the cost and the bus driver was very helpful as we made the 90 journey from Boston. The decorated cottages were definitely the highlight of the area.

Thank you for the NICE 4 Star review. I am glad that you enjoyed your day with us. The gingerbread cottages certainly are worth the trip! Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.

Hotel pick up was at 6:15am driver (Jay) was very prompt and had an envelope with my itinerary and necessary tickets in his hand as the bus door opened. He graciously offered a morning snack and bottled water. The ride from Boston to Falmouth Harbor was uneventful (@ 1 hour) we experienced minimal traffic. The ferry was at the dock when we arrived and we boarded quickly. The trip this was was a little longer that usual due to the strong winds. I sat on the 3rd deck and it was a beautiful ride. On the other side we met our island tour guide, Tom. He was a multi generational island native. I personally found him a little curt and boarder line rude but his vast knowledge of the island and it’s history out weighed his attitude. (Personally I do not need to know my guide/drivers politics and who they voted for) The island is beautiful and the stops and time allotted were very well planned. The Gay Cliff Overlook near the lighthouse was by far my favorite stop. At the end I did not eat at the heavily recommended restaurants that both drivers/guides spoke of, instead I relied on my tried and true Yelp app and non biased reviews. Overall I highly recommend this day trip if you have constrained time and want the “most bang for the buck” I did not understand the “rest break” during both rides on the mainland, it’s only a 60’ish mile drive and on the return I would have rather arrived back at my hotel 30 minutes earlier.

Thank you for the 4 Star review. I appreciate your feedback Both Jay and Tom are great at what they do. Tom is who he is, and that is a true islander, having been born and raised on Martha's Vineyard. He is not a warm and fuzzy guy, and that's ok. As far as the 2 stops go, since it is such an early start, we try to let our guests purchase their morning coffee if they haven't yet had the chance. On the return trip we like to make a restroom break as it can be a long trip back with traffic. Your high recommendation is greatly appreciated. Kind Regards, Stephen M.
