Out of the gate, even before the event, the client service was fantastic. Sean contacted us several days in advance and let us know what to expect, what to bring, and when we would hear from our driver. The night before our tour, Jay contacted me to let me know the when/where to meet, which was right outside our hotel lobby at 6:30 am! And he was there, on the dot. The rest of the day was magic. By reversing the "normal" route and going backwards (south to north), the best was first! The views, the waterfalls, the stories, the food! OHHH THE FOOD!!! I didn't expect it to be a food trip, but the honey, Auntie Virginia's coconut - omg.. I wish I had bought WAY more of that for me, for gifts - you cant find anything like it anywhere else! - the fruit tray at the Organic farm... and then. Huli Huli Chicken, coconut ice cream and banana bread...Wow. And then, at the end of the day the turtles! We were so lucky it had rained the day before, because the waterfalls were in full flow - and just amazing. We went from dry to wet with a "aaaand, welcome to the jungle" from Jay... and he was right. I sat in the front, but was never really concerned about Jay's driving. I would have been way more preoccupied if we had tried to navigate it, but he knew every turn, every dip, every edge...that left us to just look and marvel. To get the most out of the Road to Hana, I highly recommend Hawaii by Storm. It was so worth the extra money to be able to really enjoy something unique, that you will probably only do once!

We walked out of the hotel lobby at 6:30 AM to find Jay and that Ford expedition waiting for us. He clambered into the car and made her way to Safeway in Kahului. We gassed up on coffee and we’re on our way through the upcountry making our way around the island from the backside. J knew the road well as he had driven it many times, so we, while a little bit nervous at first, calmed right down, and fell into a wonderful conversation about what goes on in the upcountry. We stopped for a beautiful vista and continued on around making our way to a bee sanctuary. From there to Hana was on the road, but I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. Lots of curves, lots of potholes, and beautiful, nonetheless. we made a couple of stops and ended up for Huli Huli chicken on a wonderful beach. After that, we made our way to the black sand and again another gorgeous spot to stop. I encourage you to take the hike. The tour through Hana and on our way back around the west side of Maui. We were fortunate that it rained and so the waterfalls were in full force. The road kept curving J handle it. Well in the waterfalls kept pouring. Final stop to see the turtles, which looked a heck of a lot like rocks, ended a wonderful day. The last part of the trip was the drive back to Lahaina with more stories from Jay. it was an excellent, excellent, excellent day on the road to Hana. Definitely five stars.

The whole day was just amazing . From meeting Shaun just off the doc to leaving us at the doc . The best experience of our whole trip to Hawaii . These guys have a lot of knowledge and we learnt more from Shaun about Honolulu and The Hawaii islands than any brochures. We swam in waterfalls had a fab lunch at uncle Russell’s met locals. They even provided refreshments throughout the day . We have told family and friends to book in advance for this tour when they go to Hawaii . Thanks Shaun hope to see you again……… Sue, Paul and the ozzies
