We go to the luau for the experience. And we did get the experience of a lifetime. I sprung for the front row seats at the luau show. We met some nice people and the show was fantastic! The wind was blowing really hard about the time the fire dancer came up and they sent two of the other dancers up front in the dark below the stage, I believe in case there was a very unexpected wind gust and the torches got away. However, the dance was spectacular and everything remained under the dancer's control. I'd go again!

Maui Nui luau is fun, but routine, food is “ok”. Overall , a bit over priced, and , while the parking attendant allowed us to leave at no additional charge, initially he said parking would be $2 every 20 minutes to a maximum of $24, so I’m not sure what it will be.

Attended Maui Nui Luau at the Sheraton in Jan. 2020 and absolutely loved it. Not 'hokey'...and I've been to two others that definitely fall into the hokey category. We opted for the VIP tickets so we breezed in (no lines) but the venue is small so you'd likely be fine without the additional $$ for VIP tix. Seating is all pretty equal (not really any 'bad' seats) and it didn't seem crowded at all. Greeted w/beautiful, fresh leis. The luau grounds are fun because there is an open bar and 'stations' around the venue with fun activities (get a 'Super-Easy-to-Wash-Off-Tomorrow' tattoo or participate in an Hawai'ian inspired craft or activity with a MaiTai in your hand while the sun sets...Uhhh...YEAH!) Food was good (as a vegetarian I had plenty of options) and the meat-eaters in our party all enjoyed the meat dishes. They demonstrate unearthing a roasted pig. I've seen comments from people that they were disappointed that they don't slice and serve THAT particular pig for dinner but it's not logistically possible. Desserts were uninspired. The MC Sini (Gosh I can't remember his name) was a warm, welcoming guy; proud of his Hawai'ian heritage. He made it fun. I've been to luaus before that seemed like a glorified visit to the Tiki Room at Disneyland but I actually LIKED this performance. It had an air of 'authenticity' and 'hospitality' to it. Was it all 'show'? Someone it didn't feel that way. The musicians and dancers seemed like they were having fun and enjoyed what they were doing. VERY family friendly. The fire dancer was WAY COOL!! Kane has skills :) Park Valet at the Sheraton. Arrive early and enjoy all the offerings.
