Nate and Flip did an amazing job of getting us to the summit, taking pictures, and educating everyone on the night sky. This is a long excursion - ours lasted nearly 10 hours - and so make sure to bring something light to eat as well as water. Snacks and hot beverages are provided. Next, you are going to want to book this excursion during the phase of the New Moon so you can clearly see the Milky Way Galaxy. Also, you are going to want to bring a sweatshirt with you as the temperature will drop to around 20 degrees. They provide gloves and a winter jacket. Finally, you are going to want to bring a REALLY good camera with you - think Nikon, Sony, or Canon - as there will be a lot of great photo opportunities.

The Mauna Kea Summit tour was a highlight of our trip to Hawaii. Worth every penny. Our tour guide Hunter was extremely knowledgeable about the mountain the stars and really made the trip special. A huge hit with our three teenagers!

Best star gazing experience ever. The tour drivers drove well and provided some snacks upon sunset. Winter jackets and gloves were also provided. All in all a must do activity for astronomy lovers. The guide explained different constellations, showed different planets through telescope, we saw multiple shooting stars and a very clear milky way.
