Melanin Miami: Black History Tour (w/ food)

Overview
Miami is full of diversity and has some rich history. When people think of Miami, the Latin influence usually comes to mind first. But a part of this history comes from the African-American/Caribbean-American cultures that run through the veins of the city. Book this experience to learn just how rich it is.

We will visit historic Overtown where I’ll introduce you a lot of history that many don't even know exist in Miami. Learn of Miami’s role in the civil rights movement, the city’s historically Black beach, the city’s first Black Millionaire, the hangout for greats like Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X and Sammy Davis, Jr., and the first Black luxury resort that never happened.

During this experience, you’ll also get to enjoy a specialty menu including some of Miami’s best soul food. You won't find many Black history tours in Miami and I'm happy to share this cultural experience with you.

Keymia was a excellent tour guide. I am from Miami and I try to keep up with Miami’s black history some information I was familiar with but there was so much more Keymia introduced me too that I didn’t know. She is very knowledgeable and confident in relaying the information. She introduced us to parts of Miami I never knew about and parts that I heard of but didn’t know the background. One in particular “Good Bread Alley”. The reason why I went on this tour was because of my bookclub. The book of the month(When No One is Watching) starts out with a walking tour of a Black Neighborhood but the tour guide didn’t talk about the “black history” so one of the people on the tour decided to do her owe tour in the same neighborhood with black history. I would advise everyone to do this tour it is so worth it it’s an eye opener to this beautiful city that we live in. At the end of the tour I was full of knowledge and my appetite was satisfied as well from eating at the Little Green House Restaurant owed by a Miamian .
