Mele Luau at Coral Crater

Overview
In ancient Hawaii, royalty celebrated the local culture and special occasions by organizing feasts of mea'ai (food), hula (dance), and mele (songs). The word luau came from one of the foods served at the feast.

Mele Luau pays tribute to the culture of Hawaii with authentic food, dances and songs of Hawaii and Polynesia. Enjoy a lei greeting, welcome drink, pupus (hors d'oeuvre), and pre-show activities before you experience a Samoan cooking demonstration in an umu.

Featuring a feast of traditional luau food plus some vegetarian specials and children’s favorites is sure to please. The bar has tropical favorites, wine and local craft beer.

The show is a Polynesian Love Story with traditional dances including the Hula, Haka, Siva, and Otea, spectacular fireknife dancing, and some special surprises.

Absolutely loved the Aloha spirit from beginning to end. The Polynesian dancers (men & women) were amazing. The fire knife show was spectacular, to say the least! And The staff were very attentive, checking often to see if we needed anything (water, etc.). The emcee, Kaleo Pilanca was freaken awesome! He personally went from table to table to talk stories, before the show started. He is a very personal guy, and super hilarious. I also need to mention that there was a femaIe dancer whom sang so beautifully, it gave me chicken skin! Oh! Speaking of “chicken”, there’s chickens, goats, and more for the kiddies to walk over and visit. Super cute! I enjoyed the different food options (vegan as well) along side some of our traditional Hawaiian food & deserts, which our Islands are known for. The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 rating is for two things: 1. There was an act in between the Polynesian acts that gave a cirque du soleil vibe, which in my humble opinion, didn’t really fit… I don’t know, maybe others liked it? 2. There was no poi. For me, that’s a big must! Traditionally our family Luau’s ALWAYS has poi! *So, please have some poi the next time I come back, YES, I AM definitely coming back. Because all in all I truly enjoyed myself, and had a great experience there!!! I’ve recommended Mele Luau to my family and friends. :)

Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for choosing to celebrate your special occasion with us at Mele Luau Oahu, and for taking the time to write such a glowing review. We are so happy that you enjoyed every aspect of the show--the dancers, the fire knife show, and of course our wonderful emcee Kaleo Pilanca! It is great to hear that you found our food options diverse and accommodating, especially as we know there are many different dietary needs and preferences out there. Noah does incredible acrobatic tricks, reminiscent of Cirque productions. He is a phenomenal talent and glad you saw his luau fire dancing moves! We will work on the Poi offering as well. Thank you and please do come back.. We hope you will visit us again soon at Mele Luau Oahu.

Beautiful new luau located in Kapolei. Lots of parking. It was opening night and was amazed on what a good show it was. Weather was perfect. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Kaleo Pilanca was the emcee and was really funny. Kept us laughing all night. Luau grounds are very nice and bathroom are very clean. Food was amazing! A lot of healthy/vegan options. Unique menu but everything was very tasty. My favorite was the mahi mahi and curry veggies. We loved the show and the variety of dances of all the different Polynesian Islands. Dancers and musicians/drummers were all really good as well. Really enjoyed the fire knife dancers, it was my kids favorite. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this Luau!

This luau was amazing! The story, the food, the MC, the fire performers, hula dancers but the best part was knowing that a beautiful family performs and produced the show. It’s so beautiful to see this family working together to keep the tradition alive. Absolutely beautiful!
