Everything went smoothly, very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Trent was our guide in the raft and was good fun while taking our safety very seriously. The Mendenhall glacier and lake were quite beautiful. It would have been useful to know before hand a bit more about what we would be wearing. We were given boots and waterproof trousers plus life jacket. I would have dressed warmer if I’d known this was the extent of the waterproofs plus would have taken a dry pair of socks and jacket for afterwards. Would suggest taking insect repellent and hand sanitizer. Trent our guide made the trip, shared some great tales and his enthusiasm, albeit at the end of the season, still shone through. I would recommend it as an excursion.

Trent was a fantastic guide and strategically navigated the rapids. He shared wonderful stories and provided a historical picture of Juneau. Travelers have the option to paddle or chill on the boat. I chose the more relaxed option so I cannot speak to the paddle option. There are a few rapids on the Mendenhall trip but nothing too crazy. Expect to get wet and a rain coat is strongly recommended. The weather will be clear one moment then start raining the next. Trent and the other guides state that’s normal Juneau weather. Many of us were freezing by the end of the trip due to the cold water and rain.
