Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure Tour

Overview
Explore Mendenhall Glacier on this exclusive adventure tour into the Alaskan Wilderness. Your expert guides will lead you on a journey across Mendenhall Lake where you will paddle together with a small group past icebergs, giant waterfalls, and wildlife. On your way to the ice, you will be surrounded by breathtaking scenery of mountain peaks nestled in the Tongass National Forest. Upon landing the canoe at a remote beach site, your guides will safely lead you on an interpretive hike around the rocky surfaces located directly in front of the glacier. Here you will discover the magnificent ice features up close. Views of specific glacial features like Ice Caves and Moulins cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the constantly moving ice. Loved this tour! Ryan and Joey were wonderful! VERY helpful, knowledgeable, and humorous! We were on a cruise and made 3 stops with 3 different shore excursions and this was by far my favorite! The company provided all the equipment needed, along with water and snacks. 1st class all the way!

This was my favorite excursion my whole trip! I would highly recommend this! Our guides Abby and Ben were great! They were very well organized and were great at explaining things and pointing out any cool sights or animals they spotted. And they were just fun! We met our first guide Ben then had a short ride out to the lake. On the Ride out to the lake we saw tons of Bald Eagles! They were everywhere! Once there we geared up for our canoe ride. They provide all the waterproof gear (jacket, pants, boots, dry bag : they also provide a helmet, life jacket). You do need to dress warm as what they provide is waterproofing not insulating. You also need to bring gloves and I wore a beanie under my helmet. For anything that you don't want to bring out on the excursion they lock up in their van which was a really nice convenience. The dry bag was great for everything you wanted to bring with and for the water and snacks they provided. The Canoe ride out was amazing! It is a workout to row out there but it's amazing to round the corner and row right up to the glacier. An experience I wont forget! They give you breaks on the canoe ride to rest and take pictures as well! After you reach the other side of the lake you get a break where you have the water and yummy snacks that they provided. You put on your helmet and grab your walking stick (which they also provide) You have a little hike up then you get to put on your crampons and you are off hiking on a glacier! An awesome experience! They are very professional and give you a safety lesson on how to walk with crampons. I felt very safe! After walking around the glacier and getting your cool photos you hike back to the canoe and row back across the lake. Our guides again were great at pointing things out and as the row back was a little harder as we were more tired our Guide Ben had the best Dad jokes out there to help us across! :) once back they had several hot beverages you could choose from and some more yummy snacks! I really enjoyed everything about this! you will not regret this!
