I am so happy we did this excursion. Unforgettable and a once in a lifetime opportunity. Andrew and Moe, our "model" ;) tour guides were outstanding!! Highly experienced and educated, made sure we were safe at all times. They kept the pace of the canoeing and the hike comfortable even for these 50 plus year olds. From the van to the canoe, boots and raingear, everything was clean and well cared for. The hot drinks at the end an unexpected but a wonderful treat.

Thanks for your review! Even though canoeing is the fastest and easiest way to get across the lake, it can be a good workout at times! I’m glad to hear that our guides made it an easy and comfortable ride for you! Andrew and Mo had a lot of fun with you and would love to adventure with you again if you are ever back in Juneau.

We were picked up in town and brought to the Mendenhall Lake and set up with everything we needed, from dry pants and jacket to helmet and paddle. We canoed across the lake to the Mendenhall Glacier. We pulled our canoe up on the beach, ate a snack, and headed out on our hike. Once we got to the ice, our guides provided us with cramp ons for hiking on the hike as well as a lesson in safety while walking with them on. We hiked around the glacier and saw crevacces and waterfalls. We took some great pictures and saw some beautiful views of the glacier and the lake. On our way back across the lake our guides were challenged with some wind and rough current. It took several restarts and some input from the paddlers (trained in swift water rescue) to get the canoe back across the rough waters to our take out spot. Overall the experience was awesome. The paddle back was frustrating, but we all pulled it together and conquered the roughness. We were then brought back to town. I originally saw the ice caves on the website and that was what we wanted to see, but the pictures were from last year and that area of the glacier was no longer a cave.....it had already melted.

We’re thrilled to hear that you had a great experience, and the weather change didn’t ruin anything for you. We do our best to predict strong wind and cancel if the paddle is predicted to be too strenuous. Sometimes the weather does change rapidly while out exploring the glacier, and that’s why all our guides are trained on wind and water safety. We know it can be a workout in the wind, and are glad to hear there was good group teamwork! Certain glacial features such as ice caves, have been seen by a lot of our guest, but are not always formed or safe to enter. We have seen two ice caves come and go so far this season, and expect more in the future. However, as our website states these features can not be predicted or guaranteed. Thanks again for sharing your experience on our ice adventure tour! Hope to have you out on the ice again, if you’re ever back in Juneau!!

The canoe trip and glacier hike were (by far) the best excursion we booked in Alaska. It's also the most fun adventure we've been on during any of our travels. Andrew and Moe (sorry if I'm spelling a name wrong) were outstanding guides. They were genuine and it felt like they were friends enjoying the tour with us (while also keeping everyone safe). Can't say enough about these two and the experience itself. Until you walk out on the glacier yourself, you just cannot understand how breathtaking it is. Yes, it's pricey, but you may only be in Alaska once. Worry about the money later - you will NOT regret booking this trip ever. 5 stars. 100. A+++. Thanks for the amazing experience you guys.
