Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. We were doing a cruise of Alaska and were not sure what excursions to do while we were in Juneau and we are SO happy that we did the Glacier canoe tour of the glacier. Our family has a large age range and everyone was able to do it and had a ton of fun paddling, hiking on the glacier, and taking in the amazing views. Getting the earliest slot possible was a huge plus. And of course our guides Casey and Abby were fantastic; they were super knowledgeable and were great at making sure everyone was safe and having a great time.

I had such a wonderful time on the canoe tour today! It was quite a sensational experience paddling out on the Mendenhall Lake, soaking in views of the glacier and sublime scenery. Additionally, I was overwhelmingly pleased with our guide Spencer's knowledge and enthusiastic attitude. I recommend this tour and company to anyone looking for an exceptional Alaskan experience.

The tour was a terrific excursion and we're happy we chose it (after considering a few others). Mendenhall Lake is gorgeous, paddling the canoe around the bend and seeing the Mendenhall Glacier for the first time is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our guides - Abby and Joey - were excellent; they are full of knowledge about the geography, the glacier, the lake, the wildlife - and we felt very safe and comfortable paddling under their instruction/advice, while in the canoe. We were also lucky in choosing an independent tour company (Liquid Alaska) that doesn't market solely to the cruise ships; it allowed for an excursion that wasn't a cookie-cutter experience....
