Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE hiking on a glacier.

Ben & Grant as our cramp-on, rubber boot glacier hiking and boat paddling guides really made this experience wonderful for myself, my wife, and our 22-year old daughter who was responsible for us being on an Alaskan cruise adventure in the first place because it was her college graduation present. The paddling was not too strenuous since there are lots of others paddling as well if you need to take a break, plus our guides had everyone take breaks together every so often while they pointed out sights and narrated about the history of the land around us. Hiking on the glacier was a really great experience and it is amazing looking at all of the blue ice...more than in my freezer ! Ice caves arenā€™t always available to explore but a pair of them were able to be visited the day we went in mid-August so we really enjoyed the heck out of that part of our trip, The helicopters could not take people to the glacier due to the condition of the glacier where they land so we were doubly happy that we booked this adventure instead of the helicopter ride variation. ā€œIso-Static-Reboundā€ we all yelled in unison when back on the bus (inside joke...look it up). Thanks, Ben & Grant !

Congrats on graduating college! What an amazing college graduation present :) Our groups are small, it is definitely a team effort to get to the glacier, but totally worth it. We explore the terminus of the glacier where there are a lot of glacier features and helicopters cannot land there, so it is quite a unique experience. Love the "Iso-Static-Rebound" chat!!! Thank you.

Had an amazing day out with our tour guide spencer. All the info given from the moment we got picked up was greatly appreciated. We felt completely safe(im usually terrified of water...) and could enjoy every minute of being out on the lake. Getting up close to the waterfall was for sure my favourite part! Thank you for a wonderful day.

Definitely one of the best tours that you can do in Juneau. Forget whatever the cruise ships offer, this is a better value. Joey and Brian were awesome.
